I knew that I wanted to be a dentist since early high school. A family friend acted as a mentor steering me toward the dental field. This friend is long gone, but I continue to be grateful to him for leading me to a career that I have great passion for.
I am passionate about helping my patients and providing them with the best care available. My focus is to help my patients not need dental work. I take great pride in providing excellent care to multiple generations of patients. Terry attended Lansing Community College, graduating in 1990 with her Dental Hygiene degree. She joined Dr. Balasz’s office in the summer of 1998. Terry is very dedicated to her profession, putting in many extra hours getting ready for her patients. Terry says that a patient’s oral health is her top priority and enjoys educating patients on how to care for their teeth and gums.
Terry attends and teaches fitness classes in her spare time. She and her husband, Jeff, enjoy hunting and other outdoor activities, especially at their cabin in Canada.
Kristin always wanted to work in the health care field. After high school she decided to go to Ferris State University to become a Dental Hygienist. She started working for Dr. Balasz right after she graduated in 1999. In the years since she has come to appreciate the ongoing relationship that she has with her patients.
She, her husband Brad and kids Karleee and Hunter are always on the go. The kids are involved in sports year round and join their parents boating and doing other outdoor activities.
Sabrina has worked in the dental field for almost ten years. She has been Dr. Balasz’s chair-side assistant for the past three years. Sabrina brings warmth and laughter to the office.
Sabrina enjoys learning new things and finds all of the innovations in dentistry to be a welcome challenge. Sabrina is certified to take x-rays and continues to grow in her dental expertise.
Sabrina and her husband Todd have one son and two dogs. They enjoy camping and gardening in their free time.
Kris graduated from Michigan State University with an English degree. She was introduced to the dental field through her husband Jay. Through the years she has assisted her husband on weekends and helped out behind the scenes. This past year she began working at the front desk.
Kris says that she enjoys getting to know all of her husband’s patients. “Our office has a wonderful group of patients. Jay has always said that, and now I can see why.”
When Kris is not working she can be seen around town with a camera around her neck. She and Jay have three children that have been lucky to call Charlevoix home.
Sandy graduated from Iowa Wesleyan University with a BA in Education . She is a veteran in the dental field. She is the office insurance expert as well as the dental software guru. If there is a front desk question, Sandy has the answer.
Sandy’s sunny personality brings a lift to all of our days. She cares about our patients and it shows in her interaction with them in person and on the phone. Sandy says that she wants to do what she can to make each patient’s visit as pleasant as possible.
Sandy and her husband Rob enjoy camping in their fifth wheel and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Ellen is the newest addition to our office. She attended Northwood Institute studying business and marketing. She started working part-time for Dr. Balasz and found that she enjoyed the dental field. Ellen spends most of her time at the front desk answering phones and maintaining the schedule. She is also being cross-trained as a chair-side assistant.
Ellen says that she is enjoying getting to know all of the patients. “We have wonderful patients, and it has been my pleasure to get to know them.”
Ellen, her husband Glenn and three kids, JJ, Erin and Emma have made Charlevoix their home for the past ten years. The whole family has come to value how tight-knit the Charlevoix community is.
